Fab designs Do you sell to retail only or have a shop?
I would love to see more clothes made in Great Britain. However, prices should come down, especially as there are no import costs. I want to buy British, especially now, due to Corona virus. China nearly bought the world to its knees. We must think differently for our future economy to survive.
100% agree that more clothes should be made in the uk and made available to everyone at an affordable price. Lets make british great again together.
Hi Lisa, I too would like to wear clothes made in the UK. Wages costs in the UK are a lot higher than in Asia. There are costs associated with health and safety at work and employment rights that we have here in the UK. I’m afraid we can’t have our cake and eat it!
People in the UK (not you of course) want cheap clothing that doesn’t last and so in order to produce this UK retailers have had to go to developing countries to feed this very bad habit.
Perhaps we all need to encourage our friends to buy good quality clothes from British manufacturers that cost more but will last us a long time. The fashion industry has a lot to answer for by telling us we “need” to follow their ideas about what we wear!
I hope you can manage to find clothes that are made in the UK within your budget.
Good Luck
Liz
Unfortunately Liz the vast majority of people can’t afford to pay £400 for shoes £150 for a jumper etc not matter how long it might last. Wages etc as you say are much higher here but I still think much is overpriced. I can afford it and we buy British as much as possible but some things are just not close to value for money.
Barbara I respect your views but if your like my wife count how many pairs of shoes you have add the cost and it will probably equate to 4 pairs of shoes at over £200 a pair same with clothes bulging wardrobes 5 quality items at whatever price rather than a bucket full of cheap couldn’t leave it for that price .
Liz I totally concur with your comments clothes have never been so cheap , this is because of the cheap Labour costs in Asia and the profit margin . We bang on about climate change yet we buy clothes that travel thousands of miles . We have to buy less but buy quality I cannot think of how many billions yes billions of pounds are in wardrobes unworn clothes with tags on and one worn items .
We have a choice fast fashion branded items high price made abroad or the chance to create jobs or tool up Great Britain up again to solve the worlds issues ie climate change, cheap Labour , poor conditions sweat shops . The choice is ours ?
Some of these names sell at reasonable prices. considering the wear you get from them. They are not throwaway, fast fashion. To be worn until they are threadbare. I live in my Old Town staples and now Pajotten. Utility with a contemporary edge. Can be worn smart or gardening scruffy
I have shopped regularly at David Nieper and have found their clothes are very wearable, and the service that goes with them excellent. Would highly recommend.
That’s great to hear
It should be a legal requirement for all online retailers to provide ‘made in’ information for each item. Some do, but it’s very hit and miss – even those that do include the information don’t always do it for every item. I’m getting very frustrated at only finding out I’ve inadvertently ordered yet another ‘made in China’ (or wherever) item when it arrives.
Nice list. I love Mauda clothing brand from the list. The clothes are made with quality material with perfect fitting.
Are the any lines willing to ship to small retail stores in the USA
